It was a pleasure to visit the South Wales Miners’ Museum in the Afan Valley and celebrate some fantastic news for this important local institution.
I’m delighted that the Museum has secured £248,000 of National Lottery funding, which will support the employment of a Development Manager, Community Officer and Administration Assistant over the next two years.
The Museum does an incredible job preserving the rich industrial and mining heritage of our area, ensuring that future generations understand the sacrifices, achievements and community spirit that helped shape South Wales.
I was proud to support the Museum’s funding application, and it’s wonderful to see that support translated into a successful outcome. This investment will help strengthen the Museum’s future, expand its community work and continue telling the stories of the miners and families who built our communities.
Thank you to everyone involved in securing this funding and for the warm welcome during my visit. I look forward to seeing the Museum continue to thrive in the years ahead
