Great to visit Repair Café Port Talbot and see first-hand the brilliant difference it’s making to our community.
In just its first year, the café repaired 68 out of 80 items – an 85% success rate – keeping over 230kg of waste out of landfill and saving more than 3 tonnes of CO₂. That’s the circular economy in action: reuse, repair, and reduce.
I was pleased to hear that the Welsh government right to repair laws to oblige companies to provide original product specifications have helped allow the volunteers to repair a wide range of items.
There have been hundreds of people through the doors and the repair café offers sustainability, education and social connection all under one roof. Proof that small actions can have a big impact.
