Great to visit Caerau Men Shed and see first-hand how the UK Government’s Pride in Place Impact Fund is supporting community groups across Aberafan Maesteg.

Caerau Men’s Shed are among the first recipients of this funding, which will enable them to expand their workshop space—including the addition of accessible workbenches for wheelchair users, upgraded electrics, and essential safety improvements. This investment will allow more members to take part at any one time and further their vital work in reducing social isolation.

Through the Pride in Place Impact Fund, £3 million has been awarded to Bridgend County Borough Council and £1.5 million to Neath Port Talbot Council—supporting projects that enhance local pride, strengthen community connections, and improve shared spaces for residents.

It’s inspiring to see this funding making a real difference where it matters most.
