Feelings ran high at the Ospreys meeting last night. It was a packed house, filled with lifelong supporters and community voices who delivered passionate, heartfelt, and powerful cases for the future of the region. The strength of feeling is unmatched.

I spoke on behalf of myself and Carolyn Harris MP, and we made it clear that we stand shoulder to shoulder with the players, staff, their families, and supporters.

The way this entire situation has been handled by the WRU and Y11 has been nothing short of a disgrace. Players, staff, families, and supporters have all been left in the dark—disrespected and disregarded. Appalling doesn’t even begin to cover how badly they’ve been treated. It has alienated players, clubs, supporters, and entire communities at precisely the moment when we need unity.

The Ospreys are the most successful Welsh region of the professional era: league titles, cup victories, Wales captains, British & Irish Lions, a World Player of the Year. No other Welsh region has contributed more to Welsh rugby.

With an Extraordinary General Meeting on the horizon, the mood in the room was clear. The WRU must recognise the scale of the anger, frustration, and determination being shown across the region. The current proposals must be halted, and meaningful consultation with all key stakeholders must begin so that Welsh rugby can move forward with a shared, sustainable plan that everyone can support.

One thing was clearer than ever last night: professional rugby in Ospreylia must continue. The Ospreys will not go quietly — we will fight this, and we will win.
