I have co-signed this letter from my colleague Alison McGovern, it calls on the Prime Minister and the Chancellor to:
1. Remove the two-child limit for Universal Credit
2. Reduce the waiting time for Universal Credit
Universal Credit is pushing many families and vulnerable people in Aberavon into significant financial hardship – people are resorting to foodbanks to feed themselves and their children.
Port Talbot Food Bank have been doing amazing work, lead by a fantastic team of local volunteers and handed out over 1500 three-day food parcels last year.
My constituency office in Water Street has become a referral point for the food bank due to the large numbers of people I’ve been seeing who are struggling.
This has to stop.
