Pride in Place is a £5 billion regeneration programme that’s being invested in hundreds of neighbourhoods across the UK, with each receiving £20 million.
The Upper Afan Valley has been confirmed as a Pride in Place neighbourhood, an exciting opportunity to put local people at the heart of how funding is spent and decisions are made.
Work is now underway to select a Chair and establish a Neighbourhood Board, ensuring that investment is driven by the priorities, aspirations and needs of the community, and reflects what truly matters to the people who live there.
The Board will be led by an independent Chair who can bring communities together, creating an open and collaborative space for sharing ideas.
The Chair will provide strategic leadership and ensure strong governance, transparency and accountability. They will also foster effective partnership working, helping to keep the programme focused on its objectives while remaining accountable to the community it serves.
With the support of the MP and Council, the Chair will oversee the recruitment and convening of the Neighbourhood Board. They will play a central role in guiding discussions, setting priorities, and making sure that community voices remain at the heart of every decision.
If you’re passionate about the Upper Afan Valley, can bring people together, and want to help shape the future of the Upper Afan Valley, this could be your opportunity. Apply here.
