Today I ran the 39th Tata Steel Richard Burton 10k. I was delighted to be part of this iconic local race – the first since the start of the Covid-19 Pandemic – and had the opportunity to meet some of the other racers. I seem to be adding a minute every year, finishing in 54:45 -a real sign of age! This fantastic community event would not be possible without the hard work of the organising committee and volunteers.
Before the race, we held a minute of silence to remember all those impacted by the blast furnace explosion on 8 November 2001. My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of those involved, including Stephen Galsworthy, Andrew Hutin and Len Radford, who tragically lost their lives.
