Today I went to visit the Coke Ovens at Tata steel to see the process of coke making in action and the ongoing environmental improvement works to install a new extraction system there – this should be finished later this year and will reduce the emissions from this area of the plant.

During the visit to the plant a meeting was held to discuss the environmental works planned across the works, including a new filter system at the Sinter Plant and current issues affecting the community, concerns around dust raised to me from residents were discussed in this meeting.
